The Hermitage Club Alpine Racing Team (HCRT) will focus on youth development in Alpine Ski Racing. Children in the program will be coached in groups consisting of kids within their age range, with coaches dedicated to their improvement as all-mountain skiers and as young racers.

All Alpine Racing Programs

  • Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 8:45am-3pm for 15 weeks, weather permitting, beginning the first weekend in December through the first weekend in April.
  • HCRT athletes compete in the Southern Vermont Council (SVC). This is a series of races hosted by Southern Vermont ski areas that have race programs, such as Stratton, Bromley, Magic, Mount Snow and Willard. After this series concludes, racers who qualify can progress on to state and regional events.
  • Children who want to be a part of the program must, at a minimum, be parallel skiers and be able to ski the entire mountain.
  • New members to the HCRT will have an on-snow test to be included in the program.
  • The seasonal fee includes all training, full access to gates, coaches, video and tuning clinics. Race entry fees are not included.
  • Lunch is included for Jr. Alpine Racing programs.
  • HELMETS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS.

There are NO programs on December 25 or March 27. 

If you are registered in an Alpine Racing program, you may join into a Snowsports Group Program on days when your program is not scheduled by making a reservation ahead of time. The cost is $100 per-day per-athlete.

Daily Schedule

  • Meet at 8:15am at the Hay fever lift.
  • Program begins precisely at 8:30am
  • All breaks and lunch will be at Snowsports Tent unless otherwise noted.
  • On days when the lifts open later and the program is scheduled, the groups meet and depart at the Hay Fever lift at the time the lifts open.
  • The program ends daily at 3pm at the Hay Fever lift.

This “Under 8” competitive ski program is designed to maximize skill development while still being fun. The program is much more than just training in race courses and includes taking advantage of every bit of terrain. The U8 team will focus on skill development in a fun supportive atmosphere. Athletes will test their skills using the USSA SkillsQuest program and will participate in the Hermitage Club Race Series (HCRS).

In order to participate in races at other resorts, if they are available, you must be USSA and VARA registered.  Parents/guardians must do this registration process and provide us with the registration numbers.

The goal of the program would be to a 7 athletes to 1 coach ratio, there are times that this may vary.

New members to the U8 team will have an on snow test to be included into this team.

This “Under 10” competitive ski program is designed to maximize skill development while still being fun. The program is much more than just training in race courses and includes taking advantage of every bit of terrain. The U10 team will focus on skill development in a fun supportive atmosphere. Athletes will test their skills using the USSA SkillsQuest program and will participate in the Hermitage Club Race Series (HCRS).

The goal of the Hermitage Club Race Team (HCRT) U10 athletes will be to compete in the Southern Vermont Council (SVC) of Vermont Alpine Racing Association (VARA). This is a series of races hosted by Southern Vermont ski areas that have race programs, such as Stratton, Bromley, Magic, Mt. Snow, and Willard. After this series concludes, racers who qualify can progress on to State, Regional, and even National events.

NEW This Season….the HCRT Elite Program is designed to give athletes added time on snow to enhance their competitive edge. This program is offered every Friday that school is in session. Tutors/proctors will be available after training in the afternoon. Coaching will be headed up by our Race Director, Bob McGraw, utilizing the coaching staff to have a 1:5 ratio athletes to coaches.

There is no pre-requisite for the group except for the love of the sport and desire to learn.

Train with top coaches and competitors. The training focus is on Giant Slalom and Slalom disciplines and on ski improvement in the race course environment.  Athletes will participate in the Hermitage Club Race Series (HCRS).

The program is offered 2 days on the weekend – Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am – 12:30pm on the same weekends as the Jr Alpine Racing programs

A minimum number of participants is required in order for a program to run. You may be placed on a waiting list.

All registrations are processed on a first come, first serve basis.
